2 Corinthians 3 “Reflecting Glory”

I’ve been chewing on 2 Corinthians 3 for the past couple of days.  Paul speaks in verse 12 about living free in the spirit.  He compares the fading Glory that Moses presented in stone tablets to the surpassing Glory that we are given through the Spirit.  Moses veiled his face.  His face “shone” with God’s glory.

We are made with the ability to reflect God’s glory.  God shines in our lives and gives us ample opportunities to reflect His Love to everone.  But how many times do I/we veil our faces?  I’m going to try and live unveiled.  I’m still learning what that looks like, but I hope to make it a strenth in my life instead of a weakness.  :)

New Projector @ ROG

Just yesterday (gonna finish cleaning the stage this morn) I installed a brand new Mitsubishi WD2000 widescreen projector in our Family Life Center.

We had been running a Eiki projector from the back of the room with a long-throw lense.  The old projector was mounted above the main doors and not only was it blurry, it shook whenever someone would walk through the doors.  grrr…  Well, now the new one is mounted with the lights on the truss above the stage.

I used one of my Extron CAT 5 VGA converter cubes instead of running VGA cable.  These cubes convert a VGA (which is analog, don’t be fooled) converts it into a digital signal and transmits it along CAT 5 network cable.  Major benefit…  VGA cable is around $1.00 per foot while CAT 5 is $.10 a foot.

Living with Decisions

I’ve been sick for the last week so I’ve been slowed down just enough for God to point some things out.  One of those things is about toilet paper.  I know, it’s strange.  I wouldn’t ask to learn a lesson from TP, but with all this nose blowing… alas… I have.  :)

About a month ago Jen sent me to the store to buy some stuff for the house.  Hand soap, Lysol, and Toilet paper.  I went gladly and took my time at the store.  (sometimes I just like to walk around the store and check out new products like upside-down ketchup and oreo bags with convertible tops).  I got to the TP aisle and just grabbed the first roll I saw.  Little did i know that it was a “single-ply” roll of bathroom tissue.

I took the TP home and installed it on the bathroom roll.  After my first use of said roll, I noticed that it was one-ply.  Instead of going back to the store and getting a package of 2-ply TP, I decided to go through the roll.  Let me first tell you that our “boys” bathroom (for the four boys and I) doesn’t go through much toilet paper.  We know a family with four girls and they have confirmed that they go through truckloads of TP at their house.

I say all of that to say that we still have that blasted roll of toilet paper.  I mean, holy cow.  How many squares are in this one little roll?  How long must we deal with my mistake?  How long, oh Lord?

Sound familiar?  But God allows us to live with our mistakes.  Sometimes I believe He is willing to take our mistakes away, and other times he let’s us ride out the storm.  All that from toilet paper?  You bet.  Every time I blow my nose I’ll remember that I need to be careful with what I say and do.  I’ll remember that every decision, great or small, will have repercussions.

Well,

We had our first “Loopy” Sunday.  “Today Is the Day” went great and so did “Your Grace Is Enough” in soundcheck.  We had a minor problem with our Yamaha O1V96 digital board muting the aux send to the drummer, but once we got that fixed it was on like Donkey Kong.

Something happened and the iPod didn’t want to play “Your Grace Is Enough”.  We went ahead and rocked the song anyways.  The next song we do with a click track will be “My Savior Lives“.  As I find more songs we’ll surely put them in the mix.

Next Sunday ROG worship will be indoors for both services.  We’ve been running around all summer doing Indoor/Outdoor services and we’re quite tired now.  From now until next summer I will continue to find ways to simplify the transition between indoor and outdoor services and the 30 minutes that we have between them.

Ideas…

1.  Digital mixer for indoors as well as outdoors.

2.  Selling Allen and Heath mixer, compressors, EQ’s, and our 5 Furman personal monitors and getting an Aviom system that we can use both indoor and outdoor.

3.  (Top Secret)  Convincing the Pastors that every Sunday in the summer should be a Single-Service Sunday outdoors.  :)
